Interesting signage
Maybe this is new, or maybe Ive been fortunate to never pass one until now, but I passed a speed camera today, which had a silver 4wd with a luggage rack sitting with it.
This isnt new, as most of you know, theyve been using other vehicles other than those white ones for some time now. What actually got my interest was the new signage that went with it, instead of the usual yellow sign, a bit up the road saying the usual crap, which they attempt to hide in some way, this time, there was a sign, directly next to the camera, it was dark purple, and had black writing on it, which said "Are you speeding?" hehe I guess they have a knack for stating the obvious, I wouldve thought the flash from the side of the road would give it away if you were. ...and no, before someone asks, I wasnt speeding and no I didnt get flashed. Just thought the sign was an interesting touch |

Maybe to make it seem like its not just about revenue raising. Some dark purple safety message is meant to absolve them from the blatant road taxation they are doing. How do you explain the road toll going up or staying the same while speed camera revenues have gone from nothing to the multi millions it is now.
" WA police believe it is likely that Northbridge tunnel users would be fined at a rate similar to tunnel users in Sydney. A Multanova camera set up at the eastbound entrance to the tunnel between 6.45am and 9am on Tuesday checked 5496 cars, of which 305 were speeding. Police said most speeders were clocked between 11kmh and 19kmh over the 80kmh limit, incurring fines of $100. The cameras raised more than $30,500 in two hours and 15 minutes."

Yeah it was on the news a while ago. Its an attempt to try and prove they aren't using speed camera's to raise revenue, and that they are actually concerned about the safety of WA road users...

If you put a sign up 1+ kms away chances are that most people will forget about it by the time they get to the camera... sneaky, but not so sneaky by the government.
