All you 42"-70" owners can go ^&$# yourselves!!! Nah, seriously, I'm only after something at the other end of the scale to replace the ol' Sanyo 58cm CRT which I bought new in '87!

66cm LCD seems to be the only thing which catches my eye, and which will fit in the unit (which the missus don't wanna part with). In any case, the family room aint very big so a bigass screen wouldn't suit.

Is the Sony Bravia 66cm any good? Is there better? What about Conia, Hisense & the other no-name brands? Any1 ever heard of LCDV? (Or similar - a rellie mentioned to me about a new tech in LCD coming out soon which will supposedly outclass everything else out there...

Like everything else when you're in the market..... as soon as you look at all the qualities, brands, levels of entry, types etc. it just becomes confusion city and can take the joy outta my retail therapy ...

yep stock is the problem you will find, I ended up buying the 50" Samsung Q9 Plasma this week instead, paid $2995 including extra warranty at Good Guys Osborne Park. They told me it was likely to be pre-christmas delivery for Sony XBR. Eastern States seem to get all the stock and WA - well Wait Awhile!

Jme, I'm waiting for these too. I was told they haven't started shipping yet and to sit tight for another week or so. A lot of shops weren't willing to say that as they want to move their current stock first.

I'd say towards the end of October there would be decent stocks and pricing available.

i have the 40" x series, xbr series and the w series at work. i have the 52" xbr comin next week.

the only difference between the xbr and the x series is the finish, would u like a metal frame or a plastic one. everything else is identical.

I've held back from mentioning this but I too have a family member that owns two electrical stores (name withheld) If you guys want to bulk buy...that is 3+ I know I can get a very good price.

When the LCD samsung came out the black glossy frame one ....I got close to $1K off the rrp
