Default LCD vs PLASMA

I'm looking at getting a new TV, but not sure what to choose from, LCD seems a lot pricier. I'm looking at a 46" screen and have about $4K. What are the differences between the two? It seems to me that LCD is now the 'better' option, but I'm clueless as to why.

Go LCD, the bigger the screen the better plasma compares though, but lcd is def better, way better pic. Plasma screens stuff up heaps, had a big one at work kept shatting itself, got an equivelant lcd at home and is waaaay better n clearer, thye say the bigger the screen the better the plasma is in comaprison but its not that bigger deal to even worry about. hardly noticeable IMHO.

Cool what LCD have u got? I'm looking at Samsung at the moment. They seem to have a pretty good reputation.

I have a 42" LCD and I'm pretty happy with it. Mine gets used as a computer monitor as well so thats why I chose LCD. I was worried about screen burn with a constant image on screen for hours at a time.

LCD ftw. They will last longer and are compareable to/better than plasmas picture wise. Only problem is that you cant see the picture if u sit on a sharp angle to the TV (which you wont).
