The chances of all 3 swings having identical fundamental frequencies are next to zero, even a VERY slight difference in the frequency, the effect will be totally different.

Regardless of wind etc, to see just one swing out of 3 move like that would be pretty damn freaky.

Yeah cause they all just happened to be standing around and filming while the exact gusts of wind required were being produced to do it. I'm fully aware of harmonic frequencies, nodes etc and all the physics behind wave amplification.

If it only happened once, yea fair enough it'd be in with a chance. But if it's heppening reguarly enough to warrant a crowd of onlookers I'd have to say there's something else going on beyond harmonics. All we need to know is if actual physics professors actually have looked into it.

Chunky but sat on the middle swing so the "spoiler effect" now comes into play as the angle to the wind is different to the other two swings.

put it in the wind tunnel to check the downforce co efficients

Or just get one of the smokers standing round to light up and watch the smoke movements around the swing.

If the swing has that fundamental frequency, chances are, it will keep happening until its dynamics or composition has been changed.

yea no-ones going to change it though. I'm just saying how many times are the correct weather patterns going to occur for it to happen? You sound like you know a bit about it so I'd assume you'd know even a degree celcius would change it all too. It's not like people are going to hear it's happened once and all rush down and wait for it to happen again. They might be there for decades

Well theyve said the one swing has swung for 10 days straight.. i dont think that wind patterns the SAME wind patterns would occur for such a long period in time...

Yes, i agree a bit of change in the environment will change it all, but it would not change the dynamics and composition of the swing, thus making the fundamental frequency of the swing pretty much constant.
The chances of having the right wind condition for oscillations is quite high because wind does not travel in one frequency or direction, it is made up of an indefinite amount of different frequency with different vectors. out of those "indefinite amount" i'm sure the right conditions would appear quite often.
