What is the Deal with Late Model JDM Imports
I noticed that the Import Yard Across the road from Skippers had an Evo 8 MR last night.
What is the deal with that? I was under the impression you could not bring in models the same body shape of which were sold in Australia thru the oficial importers. Is the Evo 1-8 exempt because 1) it was actually imported thru Ralliart rather than Mitsubishi Motors 2) The Evo uses the 'wide body' rather than the standard Lancer body and thus shares little or no common panels? Just curious, cause I thought the bureaucrats were makng it harder for enthusiasts to bring in JDM cars. |

You can bring in up to 100 cars a year under the SEVS scheme, which is what mitsu/ralliart do with the evo i think you'll find..
in effect anyone can be a SEVS importer, provided you meet the criteria..
