And just because the O/s doesn't post the full 4gb doesn't mean it doesn't get used.

10 fps drop on my 3 way sli system using 3 x 1gb ddr2-1066 over 4gb ddr2-1066.

the m/b utilises the excess for pci-express steering apparently.

How do you tell whether its 32bit or 64bit?

jamesvdm 25-09-2009 08:27 AM

Anyone know of somewhere I could take my lappy to get looked at round south of the river? It doesn't seem to want to boot up xp. I get the normal dos checks then black screen with cursor flashing and it goes no further....

I can go into setup but I don't know what I'm doing in there....hmm

can you boot into safe mode? keep pressing F8 when you turn the laptop on, it should load a page with options.

Sounds like it has no active partition. Did you install a second operating system like Windows 7 or Ubuntu?

Take it to Techniq Computer Solutions - Waterford Plaza on Manning Road / Kent Street near Curtin Uni.

My co-worker / good friends store - free inspection, you can choose to repair or to just walk away if its buggered.

Do you know if they can do data recovery from an external HD?

207 de 09-12-2010 08:14 AM

I'll try pressing F8, when it reaches the black screen or when its firing up with dos stuff still?
What do I do then if it boots in safe mode? Grab all my data I spose!! hahaha
Havent installed anything, nup.

Techniq computers, cool, will try that if I have no luck.
