Default Belkin wireless router question

hi all,

this is my problem. i have a belkin g router that i have been using for a while. everything has been fine up until last night when i lost my connection.

after a little bit of messing around, i now have my connection back. the problem i have now is that it says i am connect to the wireless router but i am unable to get on the internet. i checked on my router and the internet light is flashing. so now i assume that i need to run the installation cd. the only problem being i cant find it anywhere.

i guess my question is 1) am i right in assuming that i just need to re-install and 2) is anyone using the same router so that i may be able to get a copy.

many thanks
michael

at a guess, since I dont have the router you are refering to, but usually, when the 'internet' light is flashing, whether this is the "ADSL" light or the "PPP" light, usually means it cant synch the connection, or its not detecting an adsl connection on that line.

Again, a guess since I dont have that router.

Ive got a belkin wireless, if its connected properly, two lights should be on solid.
the pic of the phone and the pic of a globe. if the phone is flashing, its dialling still, if the phone is solid but the globe is flashing, your provider has answered, but is having issues connecting...
payed your bill? heh

hahaha. funny. well my desktop is still running through the same connection. so i guess that means my bills are paid. currently there are 3 lights on the router. the power 1 which is solid. then the other 2 which say "modem" and "internet" are flashing. when i have my laptop on and connected, a four 1 that say "wireless" is also flashing.

my laptop can still connect to the network but i cant get onto the internet. so am i right in assuming that there is an problem between my modem and my router??

thanks

Check that your network settings on the wireless are correct (i.e. IP, Subnet, Default Gateway and DNS).

If you can talk to computers on your network, I would guess you have the wrong DNS.

i have just spent, in total, about 45mins to an hour on the phone with belkins. they tell me to ring my isp. i've told them that my desktop is connecting fine. so i'm sure it has something to do with the router or my computer.

in a test the DNS and the key ports come back with warnings next to them. so what do i need to do to fix it?? there is a repair button that i have clicked. but it doesnt change anything. how would i do a hard reset on the router?? there doesnt seem to be a reset port.

Backup your settings or make note of them first, then there should be a setting in the router interface that lets you restore factory settings, something like that. Lookup on google "(your router's make and model) factory reset"
