SBS, which has screened the program since 2005, has also extended its commitment to the UK version for the life of the series.

#9 did a rip-off topgear show about three years ago, even down to the time board, lasted like 4 shows, anyone remember that?

one thing is talking about new cars and flogging the crap out of them, that's a universal appeal, but somehow what makes the original show so special is the pisstake they do on eachother and everyone else. aussie version, mmm, maybe get in stars in a ute cutting up and doing burnouts? aussie stiggie can teach them the standstill. more episode ideas, each of the presenters to build a fully sik u'leh bat lapping wrx!

racecar was pretty good for what it was, ended up being perth street car magazine on televsion though, massive gloss with sponsor tie in .

I think they did that in Top Gear.

It all comes down to who the presenters are. You'd think the BBC would want to protect the 'Top Gear' brand so hopefully its done properly.

It'll be a bit like the difference between MOTOR magazine and EVO magazine. Motor is good but can never compete with the cars and locations in EVO.
