Car expense claim
Does anyone have any idea on car expense claim??
Is there a market rate for claiming your car expenses ie per KM?? Cheers Brew

there are many methods - get a taxpack (or read Blues site above) and read about them to decide which is best for your cirumstances and what substantiation is required, or come and see me with your cheque book

That link is what you can claim in your tax under CPKM and has no correlation to what your employer sees as an reasonable amount - some employers pay more, some less.
but its a starting point.

estimate km (or use logbook you kept)
then use http://www.greenhouse.gov.au/fuelguide/ to work out litres consumed. Then multiply by the average fuel price at the time. |

Of course this doesnt take into account Registration, Insurance, Repairs, Depreciation and incidentals of running a car, where as ATO rate "supposedly" does.
