Default Pics of the US Navy Ship in Freo

I went flying yesterday and took some pics of the US Navy Ship. It is quite a site.

I wish the photos were a bit better but its hard taking photos and flying a plane at the same time.

I can remember seeing a similiar sight last year (day of DamBusters cruise anyways..) off Cottesloe! Truely awesome bits of machinery! You dont actually realise how big they are until you see one up close.

Also managed to visit a US Aircraft Carrier off freo when i was about 10 or so! Cant remember a lot, but the planes were GREAT!

whats the deal with airspace around the carrier? I would imagine it would be a tad risky getting too close? Could they suspect you of something or do they get in contact with you over the radio??

Pete, they just get the bald guy to say, "When they break 150 miles, launch the Alert 5 aircraft."

Yeah there is a 2nm no fly zone. I was about 4.5nm when I took those. Same applies for garden island, but I think its a bit further for garden island.

Or yes, the bald dude dispatches the alert 5 aircraft (after perth radar tells you to get out of the area of course)

ahah i wouldnt want to find out, but if you didnt respond to radio calls, I could imagine that the aircraft on the deck would get scrambled pretty farkn quickly. These days the Kwinana Refinery gets edgey when you fly over that due to terroist threats etc..
