i actually discussed the exact same thing you just said with the g/f the other day, its amazing how many people dont know how to do these simple things. all schools should have a compulsary course or it should be part of your learners course.

that first story is funny as

When I worked in a Ford Dealership in the UK we contacted the local rag and they ran an article about car maintenance for Women. We also offered a free session one night named Know your car - which was only for women.

Totally filled the seminar in a matter of days (around 30)

went through tyre changing, oil, air and water etc

was a good PR idea for the dealership and feedback was positive from the
participants.

One of the blokes I used to work with told his wife to put oil in their car, think it was their pintara at the time. So she proceeded to fill the entire block with oil until you could see it from the filler cap.

Not totally sure what happened but I think she killed the car. The boys at work got a laugh.

we had a car come in to work one day.....the coolant light had come on in the car so the lady who owned it filled the engine with water

she then started it.....and you guessed it, it seized.

$10,000 later i think she has learnt her lesson

This one is for WRXRW

When i was at the p-wrx tent i was oogling over the engine (sik btw!) and this random guy comes up to me and asked me if i knew anything about the engine and i replied that i new a little bit

he then asked if i could get the same engine put in my liberty for 4 grand. my reply was "i dunno, what do you think?" and he said "well maybe not, probably just the engine and not the turbo"

*sighs*
