Camcorder question
I've got a Sony camcorder (IP55) and it records onto both tape and memory stick. Now that you can get 8gb+ memory sticks I was thinking of getting one and using that instead of the tape, but not sure if the quality is different. I know there seems to be more quality settings for the tape, whereas the meory stick just has normal and fine.

I have the same camera, the recording to memory stick is very low quality compared to the micro mv tape and is limited to 60 seconds at a time from memory. Also, a lot of the older equipment will not work with the newer high capacity media.
Hope this helps Cheers |

Ok that explains why the 1gb stick I've got for my still camera won't work in it. I wonder if there is a firmware update that would resolve that issue? I'm guessing probably not. My mate has just bought a Sony CC with hard drive and getting the videos of it is so much easier than off tape.

had the same thing with an olympus still camera, would not recognize any card over 256mb. i am not aware of any firmware updates for this sony, i think the micro mv format has died, sony only made 3 or 4 cameras that had micro mv. some editing software does not support micro mv either.
but if you find any updates, please let me know. i really like the camera though as is it very compact and i like the fold out handle as it makes it comfortable for me to use. |
