New career
Getting bored of my current job/employer, so looking at getting a new job. Currently working as a storeman/purchasing officer for a business building camper trailers. In the past i was a tradesman spraypainter also. Qualification wise i have the following;
Trade cert in autobody refinishing (spraypainting) Cert 3 in transport and distribution forklift ticket clean drivers license (250 bike license also) Had past experience in a large warehouse environment using reach trucks, parts picker machine, a large number of forklifts (electric, petrol, gas and diesels). Current role i deal with alot of customers and suppliers, sort out warraty claims and the purchasing side covers sourcing of parts and find the most competitive prices. I am thinking of a change in scenery, possibly something like a sales rep, possibly something in the automotive scene. If anyone has any ideas or knows of any jobs going in this field let me know. I'll give you $1,500 cash if you panel & paint that blue WRX hatch, I'll even supply the 2 pack & give you a bit of a hand, I'd do it myself but I don't have the inclination or anywhere to do it. Don't care if it takes you a month, just sick of seeing it sitting under that tarp for the last 2&1/2yrs.

I'm in the construction industry and whilst the project stuff looks like it might be settling down (finally!) the rest of the industry is still flying. If you're interested on site there is heaps of different jobs and building material companies are always on the lookout for sales reps as this is the sort of job that seems to have a high turn over rate...Just ideas.
Goodluck! |

What about getting a job with a spraypainter? Surely, if you have the skills you can put them to use.

Depends how inclined you are to a) be outside or b) work physically. Mechanics are earning $27 - $30 /hour at the moment on wages in perth. I know you are not a mechanic but atm it does not seem to matter. As long as you have had some experience.
What about getting back into spray painting? With more cars than ever being sold the panel shops are under massive staffing pressures. Go and talk to a really good one that has a/c etc in the workshop. Dont muck around with dodgy places. Also the hardware store I use (only supplies trade) pay their sales reps a package of around $100k a year. Get a hilux and walk around in short and a polo shirt all day. No cold calling and no travelling off site. Brendon

Hey Corey, who painted your old man's car cos it looked pretty schmick? You could make enough from the guys on here & RSLC just doing touch up's & bumpers etc......also develop struts for different cars.
But you gotta learn to put earth straps on LOL.
