Default Webber....About time..

Webber red-hot in Australian GP practice

Australia's Mark Webber has stunned his Formula One rivals with a sizzling practice session ahead of Sunday's Australian Grand Prix.

Webber's Red Bull led throughout much of the 90-minute session before being pipped for quickest time by the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton waited until the dying minutes before clocking the only lap below the 1 minute 27 second mark - recording a time of 1m26.559s.

Webber led the rest with a 1m27.473s lap, two tenths of a second quicker than the third-placed Ferrari of Felipe Massa.

McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen was fourth fastest while world champion Kimi Raikkonen, who posted the fastest time in the opening practice period, was sixth, behind Webber's teammate David Coulthard.

Dual world champion Fernando Alonso, having his first competitive run in the Renault he returned to after a miserable year at McLaren, finished 13th on the timesheet

yeh but Hamilton was still nearly a second quicker than the rest! Webber just needs to stay on the track and hope for a podium finish.

Give the poor guy a break....It's much harder to concentrate when you have 20 other cars on the track distracting you lol.

+20 billion

Good to see Webber and box head driving those redbull cars well this season. Hopefully without all the electronic aids some of these so called 'drivers' will be shown up.

RBR reckon they have fixed the reliability issues but I suspect making gearboxes last 4 races will cause every team some reliability issues this year.

If the car keeps finishing I think they are a good chance of taking over 3rd place in the constructors championship. The car IS quick. Fingers crossed results finaly follow.

Either way I think Coulthard is going to get comprehensively thumped by Webber this year.
