went to melbs for a holiday about a month ago, places to visit
-Chapel st-for clothing mainly -Brunswick st- clothing and cafes -Lygon st- basically like the cappichino strip in freo, lots of italian people/resteruants and people doing boglaps, (look out for the guy in the yellow alfa romeo convertable its so sad, he does about 15 bog laps everynight) -The Edge, at Eureka skydeck 88 http://www.eurekaskydeck.com.au/the-edge.asp -There is a bar on Russel st that is made entirely of ice, the roof, walls, furnature even the glasses, but i forgot what its called for cheap accomodation u can stay at victoria hall hotel, i paid $44 a night, its very basic, u get a bed and a wardrobe and u have to share a bathroom with other people, but best thing is its on russell st and practically in the middle of the city http://www.check-in.com.au/Melbourne/Victoria_Hall_Accommodation.htm but most of all just wander around the city, and also research the trams as they come in handy as your legs will die from all the walking! |

Grew up in Melbourne...23 years there.
Lygon street for dinner on night is a must. Little Bourke Street China Town for lunch (Yum Cha) is a must. Best shopping: City, Bridge Road Richmond (cheap), Chapel Street South Yarra(expensive), Brunswick Street Fitzroy (cheap and hippy - watch out for the crackwhores, and fags in public toilets). Best bars? Too many to list, all the alleyways in Melbourne. Some decent bar's we went to then and my friends still frequent are The Loft (http://www.the-loft.com.au/), The Croft Insitute (http://www.thecroftinstitute.com.au/croft.html), Gin Palace (190 Little Collins St Melbourne, VIC 3000), ScuBar (190 Little Collins St Melbourne, VIC 3000), Salt (closed down after 5 murders in 2 years) For a great view check out the Atrium Bar in the Sofitel - Level 35. Crown Casino is a good night out also. Belgian Beer Cafe/Garden on St kilda Road is good. Adult...Bar 20, GoldFingers, Santa Fe. Day trips - West Coast torquay or Cape Otway (great ocean road), East Coast wineries down Mornington Peninsula, North-East to Yarra Valley wineries, East to Phillip island (don't swim near Seal Rock...great whites live there). Heaps to do in Victoria/Melbourne. |
Just got back from Melb, wicked city.
Get pissed as an go up the Eureka Tower, 88th floor viewing deck, pretty cool. |
Had dinner at Lygon when F1 was on, at the Italian place with loads of Ferrari memorbilia. This was some of the traffic that night :D Had about 10 Fezza's drive by in 45 minutes. Sofitel was cool too, nice quiet place to have a chill. The dunnies have one wall made of glass, overlooking some of the city. Trippy :p |

Trippy :p
Yeah we had dinner at that place last year when we went over for the BDO, good food. Always a few high end cars parked on the road, porsche's, fezza's. There was a nice Fezza in Mt Lawley last week outside Luxe Bar about 2am Saturday. |
