UNDRGND 17-04-2008 05:00 PM

deff go to bridge road

cheap sports gear like nike, addidas, timberland etc... got heaps of cheap nike shoes there last time.

also Direct Factory Outlets (DFO) near the airport is not to bad

aquarium is cool and the crown casino is a must.

happy traveling

BOMB3R 17-04-2008 05:01 PM

A must is the 'Star Bar', awesome nightclub, Crown Casino is worth a look too. There is millions of good nightclubs.

Lygon St for dinner, little collins st for lunch or breaky. Check out the ally ways in the city there are lots of hidden places.

Bridge road for budget but quality shopping, Chapel St for the good stuff.

MCG or Dome for the footy.

Could go on, Melbourne is awesome.

chee 17-04-2008 05:03 PM

went to saint kilda, chapel st etc. night life in melbs > perth. eg. cookie, st jeromes, and every other place that i went to smashed that i cant remember.

If you're after some "adult" action, hit up this place (website still new, as they only opened up a couple of months ago)

http://www.dreamsclub.com.au/

Fkn beats any skimpy club here hands down. Cover charge is a bit more (like $25), have to wear business-like pants (i.e. no jeans) + collar, but top quality girls :D

Poncha 17-04-2008 09:38 PM

And St Kilda is good for a feed and clubs. A little south of the CBD, but only like a 10 minute tram ride

B4GT 18-04-2008 05:40 AM

Do you like coffee??

Suppose while your there you could go all metro and get one of them cool Melbourne hairstyles.

Take a drive through the hills to Lorne and go for a cruise down the Old Coast Road.

gorotsuki69 18-04-2008 09:04 AM

Do not eat at the cafe at the end of the pier at st kilda, unless you like paying $30+ for a "steak" the size of a big mac patty. Plus they overcooked it, hard to cook a medium rare steak when its that small and thin.

Had to go for pizza afterwards since I was still hungry. The place with all the Ferrari memorabilia is pretty good

Eureka tower is worth a look at sunset

Bruce 18-04-2008 11:34 AM

Mens Gallery a must for adult entertainment!

jzr 18-04-2008 11:46 AM

Im off in june also keen to check out 1806 cocktail bar.
a cocktail for every decade since 1806..drunk much?

LIBRT! 18-04-2008 12:10 PM

I used to live in Melb last year, awesome place.

Crown Casino is a must and chapel st is good also.
If you like your afl then hit the MCG and Telstra Dome, they both make subiaco look like a local park.

shopping if ur interested go to the main CBD as its huge and can find anything u want in there.

and for tourist stuff drive down to torquay and the beaches some amazing views and landmarks down there.

have a good trip mate, im there for xmas... :D

slappy 18-04-2008 12:20 PM

Go have a beer at the Espy in St Kilda.

Adr3naL1N 18-04-2008 12:54 PM

seems like there a few of us going, im off for a few days at the end of june so this thread has helped, also watchin friday night footy at the G, West Coast V Hawthorn, should be good.

lowkey 18-04-2008 01:11 PM

went to melbs for a holiday about a month ago, places to visit
-Chapel st-for clothing mainly
-Brunswick st- clothing and cafes
-Lygon st- basically like the cappichino strip in freo, lots of italian people/resteruants and people doing boglaps, (look out for the guy in the yellow alfa romeo convertable its so sad, he does about 15 bog laps everynight)
-The Edge, at Eureka skydeck 88 http://www.eurekaskydeck.com.au/the-edge.asp
-There is a bar on Russel st that is made entirely of ice, the roof, walls, furnature even the glasses, but i forgot what its called

for cheap accomodation u can stay at victoria hall hotel, i paid $44 a night, its very basic, u get a bed and a wardrobe and u have to share a bathroom with other people, but best thing is its on russell st and practically in the middle of the city
http://www.check-in.com.au/Melbourne/Victoria_Hall_Accommodation.htm
but most of all just wander around the city, and also research the trams as they come in handy as your legs will die from all the walking!

chee 18-04-2008 01:28 PM

Chill On - The ice bar :)

Josh 18-04-2008 02:31 PM

Grew up in Melbourne...23 years there.

Lygon street for dinner on night is a must.
Little Bourke Street China Town for lunch (Yum Cha) is a must.

Best shopping: City, Bridge Road Richmond (cheap), Chapel Street South Yarra(expensive), Brunswick Street Fitzroy (cheap and hippy - watch out for the crackwhores, and fags in public toilets).

Best bars? Too many to list, all the alleyways in Melbourne. Some decent bar's we went to then and my friends still frequent are The Loft (http://www.the-loft.com.au/), The Croft Insitute (http://www.thecroftinstitute.com.au/croft.html), Gin Palace (190 Little Collins St Melbourne, VIC 3000), ScuBar (190 Little Collins St
Melbourne, VIC 3000), Salt (closed down after 5 murders in 2 years)

For a great view check out the Atrium Bar in the Sofitel - Level 35. Crown Casino is a good night out also. Belgian Beer Cafe/Garden on St kilda Road is good.

Adult...Bar 20, GoldFingers, Santa Fe.

Day trips - West Coast torquay or Cape Otway (great ocean road), East Coast wineries down Mornington Peninsula, North-East to Yarra Valley wineries, East to Phillip island (don't swim near Seal Rock...great whites live there).

Heaps to do in Victoria/Melbourne.

RichX 19-04-2008 12:24 PM

Just got back from Melb, wicked city.

Get pissed as an go up the Eureka Tower, 88th floor viewing deck, pretty cool.

Had dinner at Lygon when F1 was on, at the Italian place with loads of Ferrari memorbilia. This was some of the traffic that night :D

Had about 10 Fezza's drive by in 45 minutes.

Sofitel was cool too, nice quiet place to have a chill. The dunnies have one wall made of glass, overlooking some of the city. Trippy :p

Yeah we had dinner at that place last year when we went over for the BDO, good food. Always a few high end cars parked on the road, porsche's, fezza's.

There was a nice Fezza in Mt Lawley last week outside Luxe Bar about 2am Saturday.

sky 19-04-2008 05:50 PM

bubble nightclub good trance , chill on bar if u want to do the tourist thing or the "the edge" in southbank, shopping definately chapel street or chadstone. DFO= shit house seconds(our equivalent of harbour town) the aquarium is boring don't waste ur time

WRX BOI 19-04-2008 06:13 PM

hit the cass on a sat night its mad

RichX 19-04-2008 06:20 PM

Good lookin women in the city, all have miserable faces and ipods hanging out of their heads.

fmx_rider 20-04-2008 07:05 AM

Hire a commodore/falcon/honda/import and 'cruise' Chapel street with the 'cool' people at 10kph.

Elrico 20-04-2008 08:08 AM
night life in melbs > perth.
Have you seen the difference in cities aswel? Perth is a ghost town compared to most places. Id recommend the cas. Again, makes Perths cas look like a TAB sports bet bar.

impreza_GT 22-05-2008 03:35 PM

hey guys

got back from melb on monday morning. Its a beautiful, big, fairly clean, crammed city.

Did tonnes of shopping mainly on chapel st and bridge road. Our apartment was located on Lonsdale which turned out to be quite central to whereever we wanted to go. Didnt do much tourist things...went to the Eureka Skydeck which was an experience, went to the Queen Vic Markets a few time, had a few spanish donuts...experienced the ol krispy kremes. Discovered a cocktail bar on the corner of lonsdale and Exhibition i think.... it was called 'MAI TAI'....got hammered in 1 cocktail every night (called around the world - 10 shots in a shaker).

bit dissapointing was the nightlife, as we were in a group of 5 guys, we were not allowed into a decent club in the 10 nights we were there...we heard every excuse you could imagine... which usually meant we ended up at the crown or Goldfingers, we're i became mates with the bouncer and after the 3rd night we were allowed in for free. so there were some highlights...like the massage chairs at Goldfingers...where we would spend hours on end just relaxin lol

Adr3naL1N 25-06-2008 09:22 AM

well im off to melbourne tomorrow so i will post up how i went, was meant to be going with my gf my mate and his misses, but my gf broke up with me yesterday with melb already booked and paid for, how bad is that :( luckily one of my mates quickly booked a ticket and is takin her place, so hopefully he will help me get over her n we can go out hit the clubs up have a good time, even though i feel like im going over there in a emo mood, going to watch the coasters get pumped by hawthorn friday nite but wont stop me wearing my eagles gear :) will post up wot we do and see and maybe some pics.

Just got back on Saturday, head down to Chapel st to check out the nice cars. Saw a GT3 Porsche. On the tram so missed the photo opportunity. Having lunch and an Audi R8 pulled up next door. Sounds hot and looks even hotter. That is just to name a few of the nice cars. Heaps of nice AMG mercs.
