Default Feel like we need a better Polititian

I sent an e-mail to the Liberty and Democracy Party and received this reply

Quote:
Hi Jon,

Unfortunately the LDP is not registered as a political party in WA and we are therefore unable to run any candidates in the election. We’d very much like to gain registration but we require more members. We’d certainly be grateful if you and your colleagues were to join the party to help us reach the numbers required. There is no cost and the membership form can be downloaded from the website.

One of our members is running as an Independent for one of the upper house seats. His name is Huw Grossmith. Huw is somewhat quirky and does not agree with all our policies (and I am not aware of his views on cars and motorcycles), so you may care to check him out before deciding whether to support him.

Sorry I can’t be of more assistance.

David Leyonhjelm

LDP Secretary/Treasurer

0418 461 431

PS We have a draft policy on motorcycles on our blog for comment. You and your colleagues might like to tell us what you think. The address is here: http://ldpblog.wordpress.com/
their website is here http://www.ldp.org.au/

This would be a good opportunity to register with a party and get our views heard, the LDP requires numbers in WA in order to register and run in State Elections. Unfortunately they will not be contesting the 2008 State Election but if they can register in future then they will be able to in 2012.

That makes for decent reading. I agree with most of the points, especially equal tax on all fuels. Not keen on increasing BAC back up to 0.08, and linking speeding fines to the payment of politicians is fraught with danger - worse than a used car salesman's commissions

Same points I didn't like.

Funny to see a potential political party with normal views.

Agreed. Not just "normal" but well reasoned.
