i'd say he's had pre-approval for that amount, but the letter of offer's 21 days is giving the finance company the time to have it settle so he can get a cheque/bank deposit to pay 4 it.

why is he trying to make you pay for half the RAC inspection. If he wants an inspection done for his own piece of mind make him pay for the whole thing.

guys, im a real estate agent and in saying that.. an offer and acceptance is only enforceable if you have both signed it.. i mean, really if the guy wrote an offer of $10,000 for a $40,000 car you would kinda sorta hope its not legally binding u both if u havnt signed it too u can have as many ppl look at a car/house as u want until YOUR pen goes on paper at the price that ur happy with.. then u hav to wait and deal with the person uve negotiated with..
ive sold a few cars and have always DEMANDED a deposit of $500 or more.. if someone cant get $500 together for a $38,000 car, god knows what they would be like trying to get the full amount financed?
Pimprezas got the right idea, same principle in real estate.. sumone puts an offer wit a deposit amount, if they waste ur time and try n pull out of the deal, that money is urs

Well I didn't put anything down in writing just verbally accepted it. Interestingly I googled his name and turns out he's a Public Prosecuter! Things could have got messy if I had sold the car to someone else! Anyway he's got the finance sorted and picking it up this weekend. Would have thought a lawyer would have paid cash.

Not as money in prosecution, only defence. Only the guilty pay big money to keep out of jail!!!

EDIT: Now would be a good time to use up the last of them rear tyres

sounds like a chotus dicked wanker. why 21 days for finance? especially for a lawyer?

My finance took 2 days, including telling the bank i want a loan, to handing over the bank cheque.

Wear those tyres down the the rims!!

There must also be some sort of consideration to make it a contract. No deposit, no contract...
