^^ Beat me to it.

Slight loss of power, but at 100RON you'll be able to smash in more timing - Should counteract the power loss.

From what I understand, E10 has been established as the maximum limit of blending for everyday petrol engines. Beyond E10 you start getting into flexfuel vehicle territory.

Yeah if you re-tune for it, different story altogether :D I just wouldn't be sticking in random fuel thinking it will be better.

Also, (again not sure with the E10) ethanol fuels create greater corrosion issues. But for how long we stay on a standard engine, will that matter? :)

what you really wanna try (if you're running sprints/quater mile without too much regulation ;) ) is a mixture of 98RON & AvGas (aviation fuel!)

Mixed 1.00kg 98RON to 1.36kg AvGas (equates to something like 102RON) gave the best outcome on my race car....increase of 17bhp and a nice little blue flame when backing off throttle. Trouble is, the engine ran that much hotter internally, which resulted in a melted piston after 3hrs of racing :(

Useless info I know! (I'll go back to ordering my HiD lights then LOL!)

o_O

Err... I wouldn't be running leaded fuel near my car either!

(Edit: Different story in older cars though :D)
There is obviously a reason if Subaru has said no to the STi, Lib GT & B4. Ok for the rest though (probably they run a bit richer, so there would be no chance of it leaning out).
Reading that it is only the EJ207 STi's that can't run on ethanol blend. The 2.5 looks all sweet but I'm gonna let someone else be the sacrificial lamb to try it.

REXPRESS 18-09-2008 07:21 AM
will it be more expensive thn 98 since its 100 ron but its ethanol too
lol of course

BALISTC 18-09-2008 07:22 AM

The 2.5 litre can barely handle Ultimate 98 let alone Ethanol Blend.

Mines still hanging in there all right.

Touch wood.

Not a full on track car but still done 54K km has done about 40 laps of the long track at Barbs. 60 or 70 passes at the drags and about 5000km of not very nice to it windy road driving.

Exhaust and tuned since 5000km & bigger turbo since 20K.

They can't be to bad.

Evilliot 18-09-2008 10:25 AM

Might have a better chance or pinching some 98 Ultimate from BP before it is transfered to Kewdale.
It starts off at 102RON before its diluted through the pipeline from kwinana. (thats what im lead to believe)

I asked once.. but i didnt get a warm response.

AWDmoke 18-09-2008 10:35 AM

Correct. It's not that they can't make it, it's just they don't believe there is sufficient market for it (yet).
