the teckie one in our house-sold says possibly Graphics Card failing/failure. Start by doing a hardware driver update....followed by a BIOS update but make sure you get the correct BIOS driver for your system. (whatever the fuck she was rambling on about....hope this helps??)

Tell her when I update the graphics card drivers to the latest version it sets it back to 4bit graphics after restart, will do bios update, but I was half thinking graphics card too.

you need to take every single item out and test it independantly.

by the sounds of it it may be memory.

download this and burn it to a cd and see if it returns any errors

double check your CPU fan is running too, if your CPU overheats it will likely shutdown or restart.

But what mr_psi said; pull everything out and test one by one

on most motherboard if you have a heating problem it will beep before it turns off... do you hear any cmos beeps at all?
