Default GT-R speed limiter

Apparently the GT-R is limited to 180km/hr! But apparently uses it's GPS to detect when the cars on a racetrack and then disables it. I'm guessing Oz spec GT-Rs won't have such a strict limiter? Is this a legal requirement in Japan as I haven't heard of other Jap cars having a speed limiter fixing it to such a low limit. I always thought 255km/hr seemed to be the 'accepted' limit.

Once the GPS reaches a racetrack in Japan, the GTR itself will turn the limter off, new season of Topgear demostrates it.

All jap cars are limited to 180, it's why their speedos only go up to 180.

Not many cars can go to 255kmh, so I don't know where that figure comes from.

BMW and Benz's are limted to 250kmh normally too.

Who cares if it's only limited to 180km/h?? It's bye bye licence if you get caught regardless, plus if you intend on tracking it you will fit a limit remover anyway.......

I believe getting to 180km/h in probably 6 seconds or less would be much more fun than doing 200+ anyway
