comsumer protection asked him to either pay the fine now ($8000 i think) or facing court action and risking $100k+ if he lost. The owner is standing firm and vow to fight on................ good on him and he has my full support

if they're protecting the "COMSUMER" as their name suggests, why would they care if the guy is selling petrol cheaper than what was submitted the previous day???!!! do you see any us comsumers complaining? NO!

it seems to me that they're protecting the giant oil companies and driving out small & independant fuel stations

Default The government needs to go back to kindy !

This "Fuel Watch" was originally setup to stop fuel stations from
changing prices during the day. The idea was that consumers were
losing out when the prices kept jumping up during the day as each
station tweaked its prices to get max profit in relation to demand changing
during the day.

However having said this... Rexilla is right. How does him putting his
price down hurt the consumer ?

I guess it is another fine example of how the government is working
to help consumers.... Yeah right, and the pope is coming for dinner.

His first fine was $1650, now it could be up to $100,000. I suggested he start a collection from regular customers who he's helped saves $$$$ over the years in cheaper petrol costs to help pay the fine, but apparently his lawyer advised him not to pay the fine...now look at the $#%@ he's in!

I think you guys have missed the point that stopping them from suddenly dropping prices helps to give business to the guy who went lower first.. thereby encouraging him to post lower prices....rather than sit at 1.50 and then drop to 1.40 and then 1.25 depending on busines.. if they were allowed to drop but not rise.. they would all just submit a price of 1.50 and then adjust as needed. GREAT DERRS OF HISTORY INSTERTED HERE DERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
