More fuel to the R35 vs GT2 fire

Say what you like about either car, but this page is a pretty good read

I don't actually care if the GTR is slower or faster than a GT2, to be honest.
it is what it is and for 150K it's phenomenal.

I don't think any sensible person would dismiss either car, and the types of people who buy GTRs simply to waste 500K Porsches (on the road) probably won't be driving their GTRs for too long anyway..

;)

Hmm thats a very unbiased and ligical read. Thankyou for sharing. Posche wins.

until they bring the v-spec out on the 'ring :D

LIBRT! 26-11-2008 11:10 AM

mmmmm v-spec....

Sethor 26-11-2008 11:31 AM

Pfft the V spec has no chance making up that 6.9secs (are your sure they are even making one?).

Strubaru 26-11-2008 11:38 AM

google says yes: http://www.themotorreport.com.au/3869/nissan-r35-gt-r-v-spec-update/

i'm sure i read somewhere it was going to have a c/f roof

& then they will bring prolly bring out the nur-spec ala R34 styles

GTR was only ever meant to beat the 911 Turbo. It has done that.

Defeating the time of the GT2 is a big call, but who knows what happened that day.

It is easily solved though. Porsche get to choose a driver, Nissan chooses a driver... Both go out in their cars on the day with each other 'ensuring' they are standard and we see what times they pull in.

Or they deathmatch in a big tub of jelly. Either way a winner will be decided!

BAS 26-11-2008 11:54 AM

Yeah not sure why they are using the GT2? Those pilot sport cups are a bloody grippy track day tyre, don't think Nissan ever claimed they could match a GT2.

FFOUR 26-11-2008 11:57 AM

Who gives a shit in the end?

Two completely different price tags so I don't think they are direct competitors anyway. A Porsche lover isn't going to buy a Nissan/Datsun over his beloved GT2 whether its faster around the 'Ring or not.

BN01 26-11-2008 12:03 PM

The article does state that they didnt use the optional stickier Dunlops on the GTR. Having been a completely dry lap, i think that wouldve made a massive difference (and they state at least a 15sec drop could be expected).

Dunno. Articles well written as always from DR, but it did seem a bit pointless.
