To my knowledge Minproc, Ausenco, AGL, KBR, Hatch, Clough and Calibre have all laid off or made redundant dozens of Draftees/designers in the last two weeks.

WorleyParsons have 'demobbed' over 150 people this week alone.

Interesting times ahead, especially considering specialist draftees - ie. Piping Designers - were in massive demand just a few months back and commanding more money than most engineers.

Intersting times ahead guys...

I leave March 1st. going for 5 months so i will be back August 1st.

Yeh i was let go too.

Very poor on my companies behalf considering i am have lots of experience in the industry (at my age as a student). I have good grades. I am about to further my experience my knowledge by studying and working for a engineering company in germany where i will be doing my thesis and i will graduate in 1 year as a mechanical engineer.

I have no doubt i will find a good job when i get back but some work would be nice.

Its fucking annoying because i was in a stable job and they headhunted me and made me leave my other job for all these promises.

0 lay off's at my company... don't know what all the fuss is about :P

Luke, thats dreadful what happened to you. I can't believe the JWS group are in that much trouble. Have you wandered over to Dale's to see if they have any vacancies? My mate started there as an estimator about 5 or so months ago... Don't think he has lost his job at this stage.
