Games etc on Planes.
Can anyone tell me if PSPs are not allowed to be used on planes anymore ?
Just read somewhere a few weeks ago they were thinking of banning them. Going on a flight tomorrow, and i'm trying to work out if its worth charging a few more batteries and ripping a couple more movies ? Thanks in Advance. Useless Pete. |

Depends on the airline, and also the plane you go on. Some planes ALL
electronics are a no-no (generally the smaller planes), and some are OK for some electronics once you are in the air (but not for takeoff and landing). The only way to be sure is to ask the crew. Unfortunately you will probably not know until you are on the plane.

I (think) we're going be Virgin as usual, so it'll be a mid'ish sized plane. Last few times we went across my laptop and psp were fine, i just don't know about this time. I'll just rip them and charge to be careful then. Was on the news where i saw it, so probably just over exposing something as usual

From what I know last flight anyway they said all electronic devices must be turned off, this was with virgin, and they said OFF. I just put my IPhone in flight mode and left it at that, did not turn it off for take off or landing, naugty naugty but my flight was fine :P

All my flights I've played with my psp/ipod etc and just switched my phone to flight mode without any worries. I just put my psp on standby when we were taking off/landing. Was on both Qantas and Virgin

I was flying every couple of weeks with Quantas and electronic devices only had to be turned off during take-off and landing.

some airlines have the policy of having devices turned off 20mins after take off and 20 mins before landing and no phones or any devices that have any sort of roaming signals come from that particular device..... i reckon you should be fine with a PSP wouldnt hurt to do what you were planning on doing, worst thing that can happen is they say you cant use it

i doubt theyd be banning all electronic devices, it was only a few months ago they were talking about changing the mobile phone rule to be able to use them on planes.
