Default Digital Set Top Box

Got a DSTB recently and have a quick question for the gurus.
Get a decent picture from it most days but occasionally, especially at night, i get a pixelated screen. Sometimes you can see the shape of what is going on in the background moving the blocks around but then it freezes for a lil while and screen comes good. I am thinking this is caused by a poor reception but just wanted to make sure.

poor reception or interference. perhaps bad shielding on the cables.

I used to get image corruption with my DSTB when I switched on fluorescent lights in my house.

I have a digital reception antenna supposedly. I also have a booster installed to increase the reception strength. Might be a good idea to invest in one of those.

yeah reception for sure mate generally just need couple people and get up there and move it around till you find the right spot where all the channels work .

also a boost is a good thing to have and cables in the house is a big issue too

if your using old wires in the house old type coax and the old push in terminal plates that wont help either now days should only be running rg6 quad core coax and using screw terminals for every conection. a good antenna has a f type screw fitting as well and put a booster inline and you will be sweet.

if you have tuned the antenna to the best you can i would try a booster and then i would also re cable if your in a older house or have dodgy cables.

another thing is that once you have put a booster in line or done the cables make sure you do a rescan of the channels. becuase the box can keep locked the signal at its strongest point from previous tune . so re tune.

Awesome info there guys. House is 8 years old as is the cabling.
Big storm we had about 6 months or so back moved the aerial so reception was pretty ordinary on standard TV. Will get my dad over at some stage with the ladder and try moving it around.

yeah that will probably be it.. just one person stay down stairs one stay up and yell out as the channel gets better. leave the worst channel on and get that one right then check the others.
