i would go for the lancer GSR anytime, if you are able to strech your budget a little further late 90s GC (prob you can get away with mid to high ks) would be brilliant if you would like track and daily car...

i prefer the longer shape of the rs and vr4 to the shorter wrx and evo/gsr
also a longer car is better for track use isnt it? dont matter if its short/long, if you got the right suspension and drive skils get a bit of practise/drive time behind either a RWD or AWD, cheap then worry about shape, etc RWD is less forgiving if you stuff corners up

Go the RS mate.... You won't be dissapointed and the bonus is that all GC parts are a bolt in fit for series 1 libs.
Last one I bought for $4800 (import legacy rs - has 4.11 diffs v aus 3.9)
