Default Trapster - Real time speed camera map

When you see a speed trap, red light camera etc, report it by pressing a button on your phone. Other user's phones will alert them as they approach the trap. Trapster® learns the credibility of traps based on how many users agree. It also learns the credibility of each user, over time.

Works great on my iphone and the more users who use it, the better the info that comes through is. Seems to be a fair few in perth already onto it.

Its free too in the apps store. Works on other phones with gps too.

Also downloaded - cheers!

I don't see how this will work with mobile speed cameras though...there's one on there that was reported on December 16...the fact that soneone saw a camera there a month ago means nothing now...

Still a good idea though, maybe some sort of filter would be good - like only show cameras reported in last 12/24 hrs (if there isn't already one in the app?)

when you drive past a camera thats no longer there I think you can press a disagree button and they get taken down after a few or something, I need to read the speel again.

Camera operators normally use the same locations often, depending on how accurate it is I guess it will inform you cameras have been used in the area.

Also thought there was a SMS service in Perth that was sending out Booze bus & speed trap locations, it made the news as a few people had a cry about it.

Yeah you can disagree and it gets taken down but that still doesn't help for mobile speed cameras. You'd have to disagree everyday with almost every camera!

Operators using the same location is true but that doesn't help on an app like this - imagine Wanneroo Rd from Green St to Hepburn Ave for example, there's a good 15 spots where I've seen cameras in that 10km stretch of road... could you imagine this thing going off 15 times in a 10k stretch because a camera has been in those spots sometime in the past? Not good!

This app is better suited to fixed cameras but definitely has potential !!!

probably wont be a licence to speed all over perth, might save you running a red light a bit close if you were doing a road trip down south or something.
