Friday profit's nationally will be donated. I highly doubt they will even charge for it as they as so used to dealing with money.
I'm only being cynical because I absolutely hate it when people try and capitalise on tragedy.

I've already given my spare change donation at Coles today, so cynical or not, I did it. I'll be donating harder cash directly into the bushfire fund, because thats where my maximum dollars will be used to help these poor people.

Im skeptical of the Red Cross - but only because when they took a lot of donations for - correct me if Im wrong as I cant fully remember - the farmers drought fund.. they took forever to actually pass it on.. and even then some people never saw a cent.

However I did hear an interview the other day with Red Cross CEO and he was saying that before they distribute the 30mil or so they have received.. an independant panel will be set up to work out who gets what. lets just hope that goes as planned.

as I didnt want to wait for my donation to have an effect... I donated to the Vic RSPCA today directly via their website. The thought of all the animals affected by this is just awful. They are already out there at the disaster sights rescuing animals and doing mercy killing where necessary.

If you want to help the link is here:
http://www.rspcavic.org/campaigns_ne..._bushfires.htm
otherwise they are also taking donations of pet food etc - not sure how that will work from Perth... but anyways.

I think this photo says it all:

+1 agreed. who cares if they do want good PR... If I was a company donating that much Id want good PR as well.

but at the end of the day the reasons dont count.. just the donation does.

i work for coles and part of the reason why we're doing it bcos we have thousands of team members in victoria that are affected in a big way. we have stores in the affected areas & employees that have lost everything.

because its a sign of hope among pure devastation.. and its human nature to want to hope. Well... might be for us.. for people directly affected by this I doubt the word 'hope' will come into their lives for a while.

as for koalas drinking..
super dehydrated... obviously from bushfire.. they will drink water... this is about the 3rd koala ive seen drinking water provided by humans in the last few weeks. poor little buggers. the video footage of this firey giving koala 3 bottles of water is amazing !

I only say that because of what Tara has alluded to.

Also the Koala is one of our national symbols.

There are thousands of pictures of devestation and death, and all are tragic.

I did not wish to mean disrespect to those who have died.
