Default Car stereo with ipod connectivity?

I need a cheapish stereo for my Magna, no more than $150 and I want it to have Ipod connectivity. I know you can get ones with the aux in jack fairly cheaply, but can you get ones with full Ipod control through the stereo? i.e browsing songs/artist and displaying artist name/track name etc. Any recommendations?

this is what i use for my iphone and its brilliant, you still use your ipod to change songs and all, i dont think there is any other way available, although this dosent charge your ipod, the battery lasts as long as it would with headphones.

I've had 3 of those FM transmitters and have been pretty disappointed. The one I have at the moment is a Belkin and is a pain in the a$$. You can have good reception one day bad the next. So I'm after a hard-wired solution.

i agree with bakks, most brands have ipod connectivity, but Alpine were first to do it, so you should even get a lower end deck with connectivity for maybe a little over that $150 mark.

X3. remember, you can 'haggle' a bit at car audio places... maybe not so much in the sub-$250 range, especially since you're only buying one thing. but you can expect not to pay retail, that's for sure.

If you were really keen, see Brett @ Albert's Car Stereo in Joondalup (a trek yes, but worth it) and say that you know he can give you the best price for it.
You should do well with him - free cable ($60) even...

The latest models of Alpines are in stock now, they even have an entry level unit with usb port on the face.

I can give you a good contact too if you like.
