oil
Hi
engine related but not subaru engines, yamaha waverunner engines actually. My 4 stroke jet ski is low on oil for some reason (thats another story) and i have found out it requires 10W-40 oil. Would there be a difference with valvoline 10W-40 and castrol magnatec 10W-40? Is magnatec going to make a huge difference or not, the valvoline is recommended by the manufacturer apparently, but wondering if the castrol will hurt it at all? Any help appreciated. Marty |

As long as you use the correct weight of oil (ie. 10W40), I dont see how changing brands would damage or affect your engine.

You shouldnt mix normal oil with synthetic oil either.

Not sure on jet skis, but I know on bikes you need to use a different oil in them to the oil you use in cars. Reason being normal car oil has friction modifiers in them to lessen any wear which isnt so good on wet clutches in alot of 4 stroke bikes. I doubt this would be an issue in your case though.

gx-rex is bang on the money there, you need to get specific jetski/ motorcycle oil
using car motor oil will shag your clutch marty 2 wheel wreckers have an excellent priced range down in neil st ozzy park, thats where i used to get all my bike fluids from i'm basing this on the assumption that a jetski has the same wetclutch setup as a motorcycle? i'm no expert on ski's |

jet skis have no clutch set up at all, crank goes straight onto prop shaft and thats that. Cheers for the info though i found out the oil level is meant to be sitting a bit lower than normal and everything is all good.
