Default iPODS

My iPOD battery lasts 18 minutes, if I'm lucky.

Without a receipt, have I got any hope at all in getting this fixed? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If its an iPod mini, then yes this is a common problem.

Digilife in Mt Hawthorn are pretty good with warranty, if its still under warranty. Not sure if you can get warranty without a receipt, but they should be able to tell off the serial number.

If not, they'll just tell you to buy a new iPod or they'll try and slug you 200 bucks for a new battery.

You can buy batteries off ebay and replace em yourself, but its a mission and a half.

You'll more than likely break the headphone output board in pulling the entire PCB out, which are marginal anyway cos of the STUPIDLY designed single connector which likes to wear out and cause crackling and the headphones to stop working.

You'll definitely scratch the shit out of the bottom and top of the casing too, unless the battery you buy comes with special plastic pins to pry the covers off. DONT do it with a screwdriver.

If it isnt an iPod mini, then I dont have a clue

Yeah as Joe said Paul, depending where you got it from may be able to prove it's still under waranty based on serial number.

But general rule of thumb under trading act is no receipt no go. Some outlets are sympathetic though.

Apple are pretty good at tracking purchase dates based on serial numbers, and if you registered the product with apple then you've got extra weight to your complaint.

As stated, Digilife in My Hawthorn are pretty good to deal with. Give them a shot first.

Where did you purchase it from? cos sometimes retailers can track down sales of things like ipods as they often scan the serial number at the POS... worth a try at least!

Had a similar experience with mine. Clicker wheel was dodgy.I bought mine in japan and they were still able to track the purchase date on their database and honour the warranty. Brand new Ipod in 24 hrs. Brilliant warranty service.

This has been mentioned before on here.

My partner bought her iPod Mini in singapore, the battery was going flat within 40 minutes, we took it to Digilife in the city, they swapped it over on the spot just via the serial number. We registered it via the apple website.
