Should have waited just that little bit longer to book lol. Did a package deal through air asia for 10 nights/10days staying at the Ida Hotel (mum knows the manager, so hopefully will get a room upgrade) for $730 per person in October.
Ida is a small 2/3 star hotel in central Kuta near Kuta Square. They have "bungalow suites" with outdoor bathrooms... very balinese, beautiful place. Our flight times are shocking... but it means we get a little bit longer over there. As you've all said each to their own with opinions on Bali I've been well over 10 times, go once sometimes twice a year and I absolutely love it... it depends what you do over there I guess. I've done a fair bit of travelling seen some amazing places, but Bali still appeals to me! I've never had "bali belly" I brush my teeth with their water, have the ice in my drinks etc. The ice thing is rubbish... if the ice has holes in the middle its manufactured and is fine to have. Ps: didn't anyone ever tell you guys that if you've got nothing nice to say don't say anything at all  kounts_utm - you can book accom over the internet with air asia... or through your local travel agent.

I got return flights and 9nights accomodation in Kuta for $660 for me and my mrs (combined, not each)
I booked in the original time this thread was started... not going to get much cheaper than that. Going in 4 weeks!!

I booked flights to balie on the 3rd of July just missing out on this sale. Devo. got flights and accomodation for two people fo r6 nights for $1500. YOu got yourself a bargain there i was stoked with that price.

sorry, turns out my mrs got the numbers wrong. It was actually $850 all up. Which is still dirt cheap, for the 2 of us.
Josh, staying at the Jewi Sri. Not the best accom apparently, but tbh, i just need a holiday, so i'm not too concerned. Jen's stayed there before, and said it wasn't too bad.
