Default Computer monitor

I think my pc monitor is screwed. All of a sudden, a bright pink vertical line has appeared on the screen, top to bottom. Does that mean its stuffed?

If so, Anyone have any ideas on a new one? I want a flat screen one, doesn't have to be super flash as I don't use it for gaming anymore, I do watch a shit load of movies etc on it though.

Cheers
Dan.

have you tried another monitor on your computer, could be the video card, also try a different cable. What size monitor were you looking at getting if the monitor did need to be replaced?

You should be able to pick up a Samsung or eqivelnt 22" wide screen LCD monitor for around $300 some cheaper brands go closer to $250, But I would recommend Samsung because of their Zero dead pixel warranty.

Dan sounds like its on the way out. As suggested check the monitor cable is plugged in securely, try giving the cable itself a wiggle. It's not unusual to end up with some loose wires if the cables been bent and pushed against a wall.

As Sethor has a suggested Samsungs are quite good with the warranty, however ViewSonic or BenQ are usually are bit cheaper and also pretty high quality.

Cheers,
Troy

i wouldn't go samsung either. i had nothing but dramas trying to get the thing to work with my computer. refresh rate, resolution, cloning, extended...one big fat fail!

i ended up getting a fony lcd, maybe a bit too big, but what the hell, it worked right away, hdmi ftw!

nothing wrong with samsung, good warranty, good picture display. the 226bw i think it is is pretty good. most lcd manufacturers all use the same panels anyway.

i'd recommend samsung, i have had no trouble. running a samsung 19" widescreen computer lcd in dual-view with a samsung 32" lcd hdtv.

ramon - the dualview etc comes down to the graphics card drivers... i have a nvidia card and its settings arent the easiest to config either, but got there in the end
