Default Importing of goods

Hey all,

If there is a thread that relates can you please provide a hyperlink otherwise, if my goods are under $1000AUD am i needed to supply all these details to customs. I received a letter today about my goods being held by customs and that i am needed to supply details, i have filled them out and will send them in, however, is this neccessary? It states "What if my goods are below $1000AUD" and in response it says under the line " Fax an invoice and refrence number in".

Also, does anyone have the fax number i can fax the documents to? I searched the www.customs.gov.au website and got peanuts......

EDIT: Never mind on the Fax, i assume its this as listed below

•Fax: (02) 8339 6713

Thanks in advance,

Eric

When I brought my wheels in from Japan they were under $1000AUD and customs never even contacted me. My wheels were deilvered direct to my door with no questions asked??

If the invoice is written in a way for them to think that that the value exceeds $1000AUD (ie Quantity: 3 / Total Value: $500USD / they might mistake the total value as 3x $500 = $1500USD) - they will ask for proof.

You can take the invoice to Customs yourself and pick the parcel up from across the road @ Australia Post. (if don't want to wait with faxing + delivery)
