Yep so you can either run that sub as 8 ohm (in series) or 2 ohm (in parallel).

Most amps will have their power ratings taken at 4 ohm (eg 800w @ 4ohm). As a rough guide you can double a power rating for half the load (continuing from previous example it would then become 1600w @ 2 ohm). The reverse works as well (eg 400w @ 8 ohm). Like i said this is a rough guide, always check the specific amplifiers specifications.

It's up to you now whether you go for the 2 ohm setup (more ouput, less refined) or 8 ohm setup (less output, more refined). Once you've made up your mind there all you gotta do is find a suitable amp

Yeh by output i mean loudness, how loud the thing is gonna sound. When i say refined i mean how accurate the recorded sound is going to be reproduced.

In terms of output (Sound Pressure Level of "SPL") versus refinement (Sound Quality or "SQ"), personally i'm an SQ guy.

In terms of bourbon or beer, don't worry about it. I just hope that my advice is of some benefit to you

Yeh to a degree. Not up to me to judge how well i know car stereos though.

I have spent many hours and dollars on car stereos so like i said before, any advice i can give you i'm happy to share. My advice is based upon what i've learnt/done through my experience with stereos. There's plenty of other opinions out there. Ultimately it's up to you and your ears to decide what you think sounds good.

At the end of the day it's you that jumps in your car and drives home.
