We generally plan to finish lunch time on Christmas Eve (or the Friday before if Christmas Eve falls on a Saturday - in which case we don't open on Saturday), however most times we actually finish at about three or four

we usually finish at 12 on xmas eve, i think we may as well just be shut xmas eve, dont see much point in going in for half a day. Half of our staff get forced to take 2 weeks or so off during the xmas ny break, last two years ive had 3 weeks off so havent been working the xmas period, will be working it this year though as im taking holidays in late january. When it comes the time to talk about this xmas, i might just take the half day 24th off anyway.

Close down for about 2 1/2 weeks every Christmas. Its the only time we can shut shop and in the construction industry its almost the norm.

We shut down over christmas aswell. You cant get any subbies or work done so no point working.

We usually shut down the last friday before christmas and come back the second monday of the new year.

The big issue is the people that take all their leave when it is due and then want to work through the break. The couple of times we have let them they have done absolutely frig all so it does not happen anymore.

We also have a nursery and they get the statutory holidays off and have a bbq and piss up on the morning of xmas eve and knock off early.

My question is, do you usually work Christmas Eve?

If you think thats bad I always have to work weekends & public holidays for my job! Not even Christmas or Good Friday or anything off!
