Angry Multinova accident

http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/west...-1225813991228

After seeing this on the news I cant help but wonder if having (hidden) cameras set up on the roadside is dangerous. Did the guy driving the car see the camera or the operator first?

Either way I cant believe the guy went onto the freeway, that has to be a BIG NO-NO!!! If the driver saw the camera first he could have been looking at his speed, speeding or not that would take away valuable time to see the guy in the road. I really feel for this guys family, but where that camera was being placed is a bit of a blackspot, ideal for revenue raising.

I bet at the time he thought that will be a great place to catch many speeders as they wont see it till they are there. Unfortunately they could not see him till the last moment either. I don't condone speeding like I don't condone revenue raising in that fashion.

All I can say is its lucky only he was the only person hurt in this incident, it could have been so much worse, could have caused a serious pile-up! If there was no camera there would have been no accident.

If you work on the side of the freeway picking litter they cone the nearest lane off, every day these camera operators risk their lives, no hi-vis shirts or anything.

Hope he pulls throe and I hope he goes for a career change too.

The operator was wearing a hi vis vest. The operator saw the boogie boards blow off the vehicle which became a hazard as they were blowing around on the roadway. He acted in good faith by going to remove them.

The driver of the vehicle was traveling at the speed limit and went into the emergency lane avoid the operator who has then gone to run out of the way and ran into the path of the car which led to them colliding.

Camera or no camera, A bloke may not get to go home to his family in a full mental capacity or ever again. Regardless of the circumstances leading up to the event its a fucked situation when realistically the guy was just trying to do the right thing.

Easy to comment after the fact. He obviously instinctively thought "hey that's dangerous I better get that off the road". With no thought of his own safety. Shouldn't this guy been seen as a good bloke for trying to help others?

Theres a big sign at the start of the freeway that says "No Pedestrians on Freeway". This is the reason.

I hope all you insensitive fucks cop a boogie board to the head.

The poor bastard was trying to help out and stop more accidents occurring cos a large piece of debris was blowing around between fast moving traffic. This thing (removing debris from freeways and highways) happens almost everyday you just don't hear about it because it normally goes off without a hitch.

I bet you would all be hacking the bloke if he left it there and 2 families ended up dead because the debris caused them to crash into each other..

Its a tragic accident nothing more. Nothing less.

Regardless of it being foam, it's a hazard. Person acting on good impulse/intentions definitely shouldn't have to suffer for the deed.

Getting hit on the freeway, I'd imagine he got hit at some speed. Lucky he survived the impact at all. I wonder what the circumstance was regarding the driver failing to see him especially in day light conditions.

sounds like the driver well and truely saw him as he swerved into the emergency lane to miss him, just unlucky really i guess, if the motorist had just stuck in his lane the dude would have been okay

i agree, he was just acting in good faith and unluckily got fucked up, hope he recovers alright
