It does seem a bit pointless to rant about it. But on the other hand its a bit contradictary (spelling) of a TV station. On one hand they bitch n whinge about people downloading torrents of their shows and breaking copywrite laws but on the other hand they wont give the viewer what they want and show the whole thing, so what option do we have.

SBS is cut down to. Certainly not as hacked about as the Ch9 version though, it always looked like they just cut out one feature out but left the others entire.

As I understand it the version sold to SBS was edited by the BBC and SBS had no say in it, I'm not sure if this is the same for Ch9.

Yeah, apparently no-one gets the full unedited version from the BBC... All international stations are given a 50 minute "cut-down" version. Looks like channel 9 decided to cut it further to fit the traditional 42 minute timeslot. 8 minutes (or 18) is quite a lot of program to cut!

I think the majority of people are ignorant about getting this "cut" version anyway so I doubt ratings will drop off too much. Big spike is ratings is probably due to *everyone* watching it anyway (I know I've seen the episodes already on the net and on SBS and I still watched it).

Not 1080p, but dunno if you could find 1080p anywhere on the net... filesizes would be kinda big! 720p for season 14 is available on the above link in .mkv format and everything else is in lower spec in .avi format (528i IIRC). I've watched them and they are close to DVD quality so I don't bother getting the higher spec links. No torrents for the above though so you would need an ED2K client such as eMule.
