If he let you go without fine etc. after he pulled you over for doing something illegal (ie having fog lamps on) then I wouldn't be complaining.
Yes they are illegal to have on (bar certain circumstances), its been covered on here many times.

Well if there is fog, you can use fog lights... Somewhat explains itself.

Why does everyone assume that when ever someone posts a comment meaning 'I got pulled over by the cops for X, though in the end didn't get fined for it', they are automatically complaining?

All I see in OP's post is he got pulled over, the cops themselves didn't see the rationale in giving them a fine for it 'and mayhaps let them off with a warning', now the OP would like an understanding as to why they are illegal?

Sheldon, this has been covered before, may the search be with you young padawan

Irregardless of whether people drive with their foglamps on or not doesn't mean it's not illegal. It is an offence, and can be fined for it.

Sheldon, basically if you drive with them AND your headlights on, they can book you for it. If you have them and just your park lights on (not full headlights), that's ok as far as i know.

It's a stupid fkn law and instead of the ADR's being changed so vehicles can't be sold in Aus with fog lights fitted, they prefer to raise revenue by fining drivers for having them on... even though they are standard equipment on the car.

Pretty much the only OEM feature that can result in a fine asfaik.

Either way, it's bs.

Didn't mean to insinuate he was complaining. Just meant that I wouldn't be questioning why, Id just be happy with the outcome.

You'd probably get busted for driving with your hi beams on for the same principle...
