Default I got me a cruiser!

UPDATE:
Got home finally! Had the Val over the pits with a few things to fix up no biggy. Found some crap rust repairs to floor pan AND chassis rail which will be fixed over the next few weeks. A little annoyed but can't dwell in the past. After passing pits it had its new rims fitted and on Monday it will be getting 4 pot WILWOOD disc conversion up front. Enjoy the pics! Wave if you see me...I've been waving to the wrx community looking like a loon in my Val

Well, after the debarkle with my STI (RIP ) I got the pay out and have just put down a deposit on this coupe! Had my Mum's partner (Old Ford/Valiant Lover) and my Uncle (Mechanic) go and give the VG a bit of a once over and test drive. They were very impressed at how straight it was and how well it performed. Motor and driveline are solid, kick back was good and motor didn't blow smoke.

Few minor blemishes in the form of a 20c piece size of spot rust near the bottom of the rear screen and a 2 of the chrome trimmings have got dings in them but apart from that it was fantastic. It sounds like I've only been searching for a short time however, I've been keeping a keen eye on the VG market for about 10 years but only seriously had a look at them in the last 3 months. I brought without the 17 chrome wheels as I like the look of the white walls.

Very Near Future mods:
- Inspection and Rego for WA
- Get that spot rust out before it becomes a problem
- White Walls
- Lowered (VERY slightly)
- Tint
- Tidy up of the few trimmings
- Custom Stereo install - I'm going to track down a period radio to replace the CD player in the dash (8 Track or just a plain AM radio?), hide my high end CD/MP3/IPOD unit somewhere, cut the guts out of the old radio and install the cable with a docking system so essentially you would be sliding the IPOD into the old radio (like a tape/8 track) to make it play. But I will have to see how I can install the new HU but still have it accessible. Maybe in a drop down box from under the dash.
This will be followed by a simple CLEAN install of subs and some nice front splits installed in near the foot wells.
- Disc Brake upgrade for fronts
- A/C unit if possible
- Electric windows
- Play with the 265 a little (because I know I can't help myself) then maybe a MILD 318 conversion for a bit of boogie and the nice noise it will make.

My aim is to keep it no more wild looking than it is but give it the modern feel.

Can't wait to get home and take delivery of it!
Will hopefully come along to a couple of sedate cruises

A mate had one of these from new but it was a special model with a 318 and the roof line went almost all the way back to the end of the boot, I think there were 3 in WA at the time but that was back around 1975/6/7.

Edit, this is the same, I think they were all green, would love one now.

Great work! Congrats mate, i reckon you've got yourself a good deal. Wouldn't mind seeing it in the flesh when you've got it over here, that interior looks wicked! Hopefully I can do a deal on the '62 Bel Air I'm considering and we can have an old skool weekend cruise!

Happy Cruising mate
