iPhone 4 will also have the additional frequency (900Mhz I think) that Voda/Optus use. Currently it only has 850Mhz which is the NextG, and why you get shitty reception outside of the CBD.

The battery is abysmal. It's better than the previous model, but that's a bit like saying my 120kg girfriend is skinnier than my ex. And the camera is crap. Apart from that it's the ducks nuts.

+1 Battery life is shithouse!!!! I bought this because my old phone
had to be charged everyday but if I use the iPhone a few times during
the day it has to he charged by days end and if I use it alot in the day
it gets charged twice a day.

I don't actually find the battery to be too bad on my 3gs. It outlasts the countless motorola phones I've had in the past. Personally it's the best phone that I've had to date. Yes, it's a bit more fragile than some other phones, however I've dropped it a few times and have had no issues. Treat it like you would any other purchase you've made for the same amount of money and you'll have no problems.

I just charge the battery on my 2 year old 3G every night and it's all good but I don't spend all day on the phone either.
I have just spent 2 years with optus I would not look at any carrier other than telstra from now on. I am looking at getting an iPhone 4 next month on a telstra cap plan.
Eg $49 gets you $400 worth of calls and 200mb data. Good by telstras standards. You pay $395 upfront for the 3GS so i guess the 4 plans will be the same. Or I am going to try and spread the upfront payment over the 24mth contract.

The deal isn't bad except for the lack of a data pack included. iPhone isn't included but people say that they will include the iPhone 3GS on those deal over the phone.

LOL @ no data plan with an iphone - that would be like saying yeah i can get you an awesome deal on a brand new sti.. like 10k, but for every 2km you drive it will cost you 50 buck. And once again why would you want a model that will be OUTDATED within 3 weeks?

Teejay, if you read the links you would have found out that you can add the telstra data packs. So for $10 you get 200mb which based on my usage patterns would be enough.
All depends if you are in wifi at home and work then the mobile network data usage for most people isn't huge.
Agree on the outdated model. Not sure if you can get the plan only then ad the iPhone 4 to it when it comes out. It is a casual plan not contract so it could be possible.

I take it that the 200meg of data per month is stuff you download when logging onto the net etc? IF so, how much would you chew through if you were to say use google earth/street view through the day?
