Default firewall networking problem hepl please

ok i have a problem with my boss's computer iv known it before. but cant remember

someone told me if i went to regedit and changed a value of somthng to zero it will enable the other computer to access it..

but for the life of me i cant remember which drop down menu it was.

could some one please save me haha

What you mean remote access, as in you want to control that pc from another?

I wouldn't mess with registry if you can avoid it, change the wrong value in there & you could wind up having to reinstall windows.

it was one regrestry item, and i changed the value and it fixed problem
but i cant rmember what it was..

bascially the other comuter u choose network places then click the computer and says no permision to access.

this reg edit will fix it just cant rememebre

iv done it before some value in reg edit should fix it i just cant rememeber haha

All fixed Google is a wonderful thing so for interest about what i was talking about lol.

both systems are XP, on the Desktop, do the following:

Click Start, click Run, type REGEDIT (hit enter)
go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\LSA

Look for "RestrictAnonymous" and ensure it is set to 0.

Hmmm.... I hope that PC has a router not a modem on its internet connection... Otherwise every hacker will be into it.

It takes an average of 12 minutes for an unsecured machine to be infected with
virus, trojan or spyware when connected to the internet.

should have just enabled the guest account instead.

what does enabling guest account do ?

yeah its running through a SMC adsl router and its a Speedtouch 530 modem
