That's a good point. I suppose Perth isn't known for it's high density residential living as it's sprawling North and South at a rapid rate.

If you look at Auckland, where I'm from.. the viaduct basin on the waterfront is always pumping and full of life.. It's surrounded by nice apartments etc and is always busy, it would be nice to see that sort of thing in Perth.. As you said, when you get people moving there you can then justify bars/restaurants.

CBD fringe dwellings support this form of lifestyle well (leederville, Vic Park, South Perth et al), and that precinct of East Perth will build an infrastructure quite nicely. Central Perth still has a while to go. On an international scale we are a very small city and the ratio of people living in inner city dwellings per mē is very small indeed.

How are people from outside the immediate area suppose to access these new areas?

I hope this 1 billion will also include Public Transport improvements to facilitate people movement. Or are we all pissing driving?

Fine. Throw in 24/7 trading with a dab of summer sunshine and lets call it a modern city.

This is near my place so lets do it.... Also the long term plan for the casino is interesting. As soon as perth arena is finished the dome will finally die. multi story carparks / cinema / shopping centre etc. Will be awesome.

And the 20 year plan for the golf course is........ interesting...

Rob Johnson would argue that one billion dollars buys an awful lot of speed cameras and would save the lives of every West Australian 23 times over!

Also, health system needs more money injected into securing, training and retaining staff.

Police need to be paid properly for the risks they put themselves into. Start paying $80k/yr and I'm signing (if I can pass the physical.....and they ignore more driving record )

The problem with all this cash is that money hungry fucks are grabbing it in Government contracts and not getting the jobs done on budget in the required time. Perth Entertainment Centre, Kwinana Fwy rail line etc etc. Union Built, Quality Tilt.

About 400 new dwellings are planned for the area, accommodating up to 700 new residents

Lots of rates and tax's for the Perth City Council. That's all they want !!!!

For me.. Fuc% the development / night life and all that goes with it.

Just go and walk around James street Northbridge any night if you want action/ food/ to be bashed/ spat on / begged to...great....Lets bring all the CBD and surrounds in to line with this .NOT !!!!

Just go for a walk / ride /jog along the foreshore near the Barrack st Jetty to the Casino sometime...early morning / evening or whenever..beautiful..quiet/ great views.

Leave it alone... Fuc% the big players / developers... Leave Perth as it is ..a nice sleepy hollow...Tourists cant beleive how lucky we are.

CAN'T WE LOOK AROUND THE WORLD AND LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES AND FUC% UPS !!!!!!! INSTEAD OF BEING LIKE LEMMINGS.

I'll go and have a bex and a lie down now.
