I'm thinking about the bitch bus stops... imagine if you needed wheelchair access at every point...Stupid invention.. not even slightly practical. I agree with the whole monorail thing.. was even singing the song from the simpsons in my head haha!

Great idea IMO.

Would just need to make it the entire width of a road to avoid lane changers hitting the side. Increase the height to a normal bridge height to avoid trucks hitting it.

Should be relatively small interuptions to normal traffic to install the infrastructure.

Would never work in a place like Perth though. Only in cities that have planned their roads and not just laid random bits of tarmac and call it a freeway.

kato lies.

Perth has great planning. Just the planning was for light rail that they decided to turn into road. ohh, and then they sold the key parts and has to rebuy later.

Maximum vehicle height is 4.3 m without a permit so major fisting if you hit it and it was designed at 4.4 m clearance.

I struggle to see why wheelchair access would be an issue as all the doors are at passenger deck level so you would require platforms anyway. How hard is it to make a ramp at one end? Probably the biggest disadvantage I see is the platforms though as the would have to be relatively large.

The fact that it needs to span a couple of lanes gives it a huge floor plan to work with. I think the huge passenger number is what would make it so attractive an option. Find a monorail or regular train that has a 1200 seat capacity.

I would be inclined to run them in the lanes opposite to traffic flow ( Right side ) so you see it approaching and should have no excuses for getting surprised by it.

Thumbs up from me.
