Default Buses that overtake...not just overtake but OVERtake

http://www.news.com.au/technology/ta...-1225901245953

was just reading this thought others might find it interesting

Makes sense i suppose, one way to make public transport more efficient and appealing to the general populace

Interesting Concept, I wonder how it would fuck with peoples minds though? when you're driving and everything around you is traveling at a different speed.....

It says the bus has a top speed of 60km/h..which during peak hour is still faster than traffic generally flows on the freeways, and is at least a constant speed PLUS it can carry quite a few (1200+) passengers at any one time.

I'm sure people will get used to the sensation of having it pass over them, Perth drivers are usually too focused on their speedo to notice anything else that goes on immediately around them let alone over them.

Why don't they just install a Monorail?

This would all depend on if the fossil fuel companies buy the rights to the technology beforehand.

"Drivers will also have to keep their wits about them while passing through the bus, but red flashing lights will warn drivers if its about to turn or if they're too close to the interior walls." (Take the high road with 'Fast Bus' of the future, news.com.au/technology/take-the-high-road-with-fast-bus-of-the-future/story-e6frfro0-1225901245953#ixzz0vdZw0tyX

The one question that was also on my mind, maybe a cost thing, or that monorails are limited to where they can/can't go whereas it seems it will be possible for this bus to use the road system already in place...

this thing is more of a light overhead rail system, but a mind-blowing innovation!
