Yeah my bro has had the original iphone and then the 3gs and now just got a Desire after seeing mine.

Just saw this on ozbargain which is a pretty good deal.

+1 for Samsung Galaxy S.

Been doing a fair amount of research into Android powered phones the past month and the Samsung Galaxy S is a perfect alternative to the iPhone 4. Picking one up this week with Optus when I get paid

Relates to where the receiver is and how left handed people would typically hold the phone.

If you cup it in your left hand you can cause the phone to lose connectivity and drop out as the receiver is located in the bottom left corner 'relates to current model'.

Hey bud, assuming I have this right, the SGS has the slide out keyboard? I thought this was cool when I bought my Dopod 838pro, now, having had a go at it for a while I found that the phone was really heavy and the keyboard added extra thickness to the phone, making it annouying to have in your pocket 'yes I did have a pouch as well'.

Would be keep to hear your comments on it once you have it and get over the initial awesomeness that comes with every new purchase

^Ahh... Well me and my 3gs don't seem to have a prob. Although just because I'm left handed doesn't mean I always use my left hand to ring ring. I like to switch hands every now and then, just for something different... :P

Bigger question is carrier. My iPhone was really hamstrung by optus and the rubbish coverage. My change back to telstra has been great.
I was set on an iPhone, but got tired of waiting for Optus to get stock. After seeing the Desire, decided to go with it. Have had it for 2 days, and reckon it's been a good move. (First smartphone for me, previous phone was a N95).

Plus, Telstra coverage was a major factor in my decision too (i.e. working away; had been with Optus mobile for 7 years).

A couple of my friends have just gotten desires.. Awesome looking phone with the iPhone downsides. However they have been complaining of relative "short" battery life.
