I had my physio done at St john of god sport medicine....excellent & about $60 a session.

I tried this once and it made it far worse. Put it out immediately and consigned me to bed for seven days.

Just as a data point, in 2008 I spent four months (Jan-Apr) flat on my back in bed with back pain so severe I couldn't put any weight on it at all. (Strong pain in my lower left leg too - related.)

The time before that I had xrays and a cat scan, and they said there was nothing wrong. One xray showed a bit of extra bone on a vertebra and the conclusion was that it was pinching the nerve now and then. Live with it, basically.

It's been fine since 2008 - I've changed my diet a bit and lost 10kg cycling, and I reckon reducing that amount of weight above the problem area has really helped. Still have to be very careful picking things up and getting in & out of the car.

I have a bulging disc at L4/L5 which is putting pressure on my sciatic nerve and causing severe sciatica on my left side.

I have been going to occupational therapist at Health Central in Leederville twice a week for a few of months now.

It is working wonders for me. It is giving me the ability to get back to playing cricket and track driving. Highly recommend it. It is not just treating my symptoms but realigning my disc and fixing the problem.
