Acratex is a coloured render. No painting required.

Acratex is Dulux's acrylic rendering system. It's advantages are that of flexibility and resistance to delaminating. It carries a ten year warranty.

From Dulux website:

Acrylic Texture

Today's style of architecture increasingly is moving towards "coloured render" style but what you may not know is that "rendered" house you're thinking of is actually a Dulux AcraTex Acrylic Texture system

More than Just Render strip

Or is it ?

As an industry founder in the early 80's we can tell you that the genesis of our industry (Acrylic Texture) was actually the limitation and failings of cement renders resulting in the development of what we now know as Acrylic Texture Systems.

Those problems still exist today with cement render.

Cement Renders are inherently hard and brittle - prone to cracking and efflorescence staining.

Dulux AcraTex manufactures a range of trowel applied Acrylic Texture systems that deliver the contemporary render style your planning for but with Flexible Acrylic technology that won't crack and delamaminate.

If it's a coloured "rendered" look you've specified, ask your builder is he using Dulux AcraTex Acrylic Texture

I have seen both systems used and still prefer the traditional coloured concrete render. However, the concrete rendering, colouring and appearance is only as good as the tradesman and their skills and knowledge in applying it.

Sadly, in today's climate of poor tradesman, you may be better off with the Dulux system as if it fails your warranty is with Dulux not "Johny come lately" tradie.

depending on colour it will fade quicker, most top end builders will plaster the brickwork texture coat the plaster then repaint the texture coat as it reduces the fade quite alot,

hey man im a texture coater we use the dulux brand which is the best and these peeps are right its the way to go. your walls need to be cement rendered first befor the texture can be applied and make sure the guy you get to do it knows wat he's doing, specially in this heat weather cause you'll be left with wats called join marks were its dried up on him, needs to stay wet wen applied so the applicator can work it

actratex is like a paint (colour of your choice) with a heap of sand and some other chemicals mixed in to it and is applied with a hawk and trowel. hope this helps

Does a house in Perth last more than 10 years before it's "too old" , torn down and replaced with a new one?

ok you lot it is "cement Render" not fkn concrete!!! Concrete has aggregate as well as sand and cement, that means it has little rocks in it that vary in size dependent on the application.

If you use "concrete" to render your house you are an idiot! and it won't work
