Default Cat Trap

Does anyone have or know where I could loan/hire a cat trap? Our family cat has been missing for the past 2 weeks and I believe he is stuck in a backyard a few doors up. I keep hearing him and actually spotted him there yesterday morning. Need to catch him as I think he is freaking out. Wife and kids are fairly distressed.

Apparently some councils hire or loan them out, or the RSPCA, or your local animal catcher. Or:

http://www.traps.com.au/cat_traps.htm (QLD company, don't know how useful it would be)

http://www.instructables.com/id/Cat-Trap/

http://www.trapping.com.au/ - These guys look like they're more in the lethal trap business, but they might have something, or know who you could contact. Again though, QLD

Have you tried going to the house and asking for him back?

If they've taken your cat, the direct confrontation would be enough to freak them out.

Yep did that on friday morning. At this point, I think the cat is freaking out. On friday morning I got let into their backyard. I saw him before they answered the door. By the time they fucked around and opened the gate he was nowhere to be seen. The lady reckons she saw him and thinks he jumped into the next yard. Last night he was definately in the same yard again. He doesnt jump high and gets onto our fence as it is only about a 2 foot jump from our retaining wall. Got a feeling when I went there he might have been hiding in the bushes.

^ as he said.

We had a cat come move in with us once. Called it footstool. It used to come and go whenever it pleased.

The neighbours came around a few months later and asked for it back, we were more shocked that it actually had a home than anything else. Of course it was no problem for us to just give it back. It still came to visit though

Take some food with you that it will recognise, chances are it will come out, especially if its hungry.

For anyone that is interested, the cat was finally caught and returned home tonight after 3 - 4 months on the run. Pretty certain he was trapped in this one neighbours yard the whole time but as there are so many hiding spots he was hard to get.

I hired a trap, clever bastard chewed through the stocking and got the food out without setting it off. Had the trap on hire for a week to no avail. $70 odd down the drain.
Had a friend make a trap for me. He never went in it, but instead dug under it to get the food.

Will now be investing in a cat run to make sure it can never happen again.
